In the past, my mother and I worked on roof tiles and bricks with napkins, which was so much fun.
And the fun thing is that it is still a very fun and beautiful technique.
The technique I use now is slightly different, because you work on the inside.
That means that you do the steps the other way around.
I did it on a glass jar and on plastic Christmas balls.
What do you need?
To start, you need something that you want to work on.
I used a glass jar from a candle and plastic Christmas balls.
You then need the following:
decoupage glue, crackle varnish, wax paste, paint, chameleon paint, brushes and of course nice napkins or pictures.
How do you proceed?
If you want a crackle effect, start with this step.
I used the 2-component crackle varnish from Pentart.
Note that you will apply this on the inside, we always work on the inside here.
First apply a layer of number 1, let it dry well.
Then apply a layer of pot number 2, you can let this air dry.
I noticed that if you use a heat tool you can make the crackles a little more visible on the glass pot.
If the cracks have appeared you can accentuate them even better by rubbing them with a wax paste.
Then I applied a thin layer of decoupage glue to protect the wax paste.
Stick the napkins with the right side out on the inside of the pot or Christmas ball with decoupage glue.
Let this dry really well.
To make the pictures stand out better on a dark background I only applied a white layer of paint behind the pictures.
Then I gave the entire glass pot a dark color.
The Christmas balls are made without the crackle effect.
