I recently went to the thrift store and look for things that you can pimp up.
Now I saw a beautiful triptych picture frame, it was no longer beautiful.
Keeping in my mind that something beautiful can always be made of it, I took it home for 50 cents.
Now there is a new paint from decoArt, the Vintage effect wash.
Seemed like a nice paint to try, and this was a fun project to see what the paint can and does.
So I immediately got to work.
I completely disassembled the picture frame.
The hinges weren't quite right anymore.
Everything completely sanded down so that all the old paint was off.
Then painted with the decoArt Vintage effect wash in the color patina.
With this paint, the wood grain still shines through, but the more layers you apply, the more intense the color will be.
I applied 2 coats.
In the close-up photo you can see what that will look like.
Then take new hinges and fix them on.
Nice pictures printed from our holiday in Limburg and put them in the list.
And then you have a nice memento on the shelf for little money.
A while ago I made a pot with cacti, but the pot was in purple/pink colors.
Doesn't really look nice with the frame, so it was also treated with the same paint in the colors patina and hunter green, and that went very well.
So this paint can also be used on a terracotta pot.
The jars were treated with the patina effect set from pentar, and a thin layer of americana creme wax brown was added.
Now it fits very nicely with the picture frame and it looks nice under the canopy on my wall plate.
So see if you have an old picture frame, or if you are at the thrift store, look around to see if there is something nice to pimp.
Gives so much satisfaction.
Greetings Agnes.
